Accountant LA – Job Description

To provide a solid operational structure to a growing startup based in Los Angeles (Hollywood). Partner with the business to provide both strategic and operational advice, develop the wider team’s understanding of financial management & process. Ensure Second Home is compliant with government and financial regulations.

Key Deliverables

• Be comfortable managing financial operations
• Help design and implement a set of scalable financial and operational controls 
• treasury management (cash management relating to accounts payable and receivable)
• Prepare and process journals as part of month end process
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Own P&L, budgeting and forecasting
• Own the annual budgeting process
• Handle payroll, company secretarial, tax and corporation tax returns (whether insourced or outsourced) 
• Work closely with the UK FC and Head of LA on designing & tracking KPIs
• Manage external 3rd parties where necessary 
• Ad hoc financial analysis
• Be flexible to the needs of the business; best practice is not always the most commercial solution
• See the bigger picture; balance strategic priorities with grappling with the detail
• Manage and train and more junior team

Key Relationships

• Report: Head of LA, UK Financial Controller
• Wider team: CEO, Finance Director, Hollywood GM, Head of Development, Sales Manager

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in AR/AP and corporate finance
• Concise and clear; able to simplify complex problems / financial jargon
• Microsoft Excel expert
• Solid tax and regulatory knowledge 
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to report both up and down lines of management

 

Preferred but not Required: 

• CPA qualified
• Experience within property / hospitality sector / multi site business
• Ability to troubleshoot operational challenges
• Commercial in thinking and approach
• Excitement about the Second Home brand and proposition
• Project accounting experience
• Working knowledge of Xero, Salesforce and Concur
• Experience working with an international team
