Line Cook

As the restaurant for Second Home, La Despensa exemplifies our commitment to community and excellent service by hiring and treating employees equally and with respect. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the business as we expand. This position is fast-paced and individuals must be quick thinkers and excellent at following directions and recipes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prep work (cutting, chopping, and mixing ingredients)
  • Receiving, checking in, and putting away orders from vendors as needed
  • Execution (grilling, frying, saute and other cooking methods specified in recipes)
  • Ensure stations are stocked and prepared for service/events
  • Plating foods based on the chef’s direction
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Weighing, measuring and following established recipes
  • Positive communication with FOH, ensuring orders are fulfilled properly and on time
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements. Properly handling food and ensuring proper storage
  • Complete tasks and solve problems with co-workers that may arise ensuring smooth service/event

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant restaurant experience, yet a great attitude goes a long way
  • Team player
  • Baking experience a plus
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Take direction and feedback well
  • Industry standard knife skills
  • Willingness to learn with no ego
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Knowledge on how to cook eggs a plus
  • Banquet/events/catering experience a plus
