East end social enterprise Bikeworks have adapted their business model to meet the needs of right now. They’re working with their community partners on the ground to provide a cycle delivery service to get essential supplies, medicines and food to those who are most vulnerable during this period of self-isolation.

East London Cares, a local charity connecting younger and older neighbours, have suspended all of their social clubs to protect the community.

To continue supporting older neighbours who may feel lonely at this time, they are collecting letters, stories, drawings, video messages, poems and book and film recommendations to show them we’re thinking of them.

LA2050 Grants Challenge

LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. The grants challenge is an open call for ideas to make Los Angeles County the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live. A total of $1M will be awarded among 25 organizations—five per goal category—to implement their ideas to turn inspiration into impact.

Lisbon Solidarity Network – volunteer deliveries

Lisbon City Council has started a new initiative Rede de Solidária de Lisboa Covid-19 to gather volunteers to support the most vulnerable during this crisis – the elderly, people with disabilities and suspected cases of Covid-19 in isolation.

Support includes grocery shopping, delivering food and medicine, walking pets and other related tasks.

Deloitte – support measures for companies and employees

Consultancy Deloitte Portugal has put together a report with support measures for companies and employees to helps us navigate these unprecedented times.

Based on the Portuguese Governments recently implemented measures, this includes tax measures, economic and activity funding, and support for continuity of business activities and employment.

Festival Iminente Emergency Edition

Urban arts & music festival Iminente is hosting a special emergency edition on their instagram, on Saturday 4 April from 4pm until 11.20pm.

Tickets are donation based and all profits go towards supporting two reference hospitals for coronavirus cases in Lisbon and Porto.

The line-up is brilliant – be sure not to miss it!
