EAT THE KIMONO is a fearless documentary about Hanayagi Genshu, a Japanese feminist and avant-garde dancer and performer, who has spent her life defying her conservative culture’s contempt for independence and unconventionality.
Join us for a screening and a Q & A with the film's director, multi-award winning observational filmmaker Kim Longinotto. Kim is know for her trailblazing back-catalogue of ground breaking films, spanning an impressive 30 year career, which she has dedicated to providing some of the world's most marginalised women with a voice.
This event marks the beginning of our collaboration with Women on Docs- a female-centred (but non-exclusive) collective dedicated to the accessible appreciation of documentaries.
