Our collective ability to tell stories through words, music, film, and performance is one of the facets of human life that differentiate us from other species. And as we contemplate an often confusing modern world of interconnected challenges, we can’t help but feel that we need poetry, perhaps now more so than ever. There are reasons why in times of crisis and celebration, we put aside our technological appendages and reach instead for songs and writing and poems that capture the human inside of us. The dark, the light, the passionate, the petty, the ugly, the beautiful. The essence of who we are.
In this inspiring and heartfelt event at Second Home, celebrated poet, artist and activist, Charly Cox, will discuss how the power of writing and self reflection can soothe our psyche and help make us kinder, more open humans in a world that needs bigger hearts and better critical thinkers. Asking the questions will be the writer and journalist, Flora Gill.
