Join Libreria at Second Home, as we host readings and a panel discussion about the late-writer and war reporter, Victoria Amelina.

Victoria Amelina, a novelist and mother, became a war crimes researcher after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, documenting the stories of women in the resistance. On June 27, 2023, she was critically injured in a Russian missile strike and died four days later, at 37. Her final book, an intimate account of war and resistance, will be remembered as a classic.

She is an award-winning Ukrainian writer and human rights activist, was killed by a Russian missile in July 2023. Her work, published in Irish Times and Eurozine, was translated into many languages. She also spent time in the US in 2019/2020.

Our guest speakers include Christina Lamb, Chief Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times and bestselling author; Charlotte Higgins, Chief Culture Writer for The Guardian; Dr. Olesya Khromeychuk, historian and Director of the Ukrainian Institute London; Sasha Dovzhyk, Ukrainian writer and editor; and Yaryna Grusha, Ukrainian writer, translator, and publicist.
