Rana el Kaliouby on tech, emotions and connection in 2020

As many of us adjust to lockdown life, we’re getting used to the digital version of our friends and colleagues. But as our devices become a bigger part of us and we increasingly communicate through technology – what gets lost on the way?

Computer scientist, Affectiva Co-founder and CEO, and author of the new book Girl Decoded, Rana el Kaliouby has dedicated her life to solving the puzzle of tech, emotions and how to humanize technology.

In this talk, you’ll hear how she became a pioneering tech entrepreneur and launched Affectiva from MIT Media Lab, a company that builds artificial emotional intelligence (Emotion AI) in our technology. She will talk about why we need to reimagine how we connect with our machines and what that can teach us about how we as human beings connect with one another.
