Mariana Gray de Castro argues that Shakespeare was the single most important literary influence on Fernando Pessoa and his works, especially in the invention of his heteronyms.

Mariana is the author of Fernando Pessoa’s Shakespeare: The Invention of the Heteronyms.

She holds a B.A and M.Phil in English and Portuguese Literature from Oxford University, where she has been a professor for the past 10 years.

Her PhD from King’s College London focused on Fernando Pessoa and Shakespeare.

Join us for a talk and discussion, where Mariana will make us find greater and deeper admiration for these two literary giants.
