As part of London Design Festival 2019, Creative Entrepreneurs are delighted to bring their creative networking and mentoring event, ‘The Surgery’ to Second Home.

Join them for a panel discussion with leading creative business experts, covering the key topics every creative entrepreneur or freelancer needs to know, including marketing, legal and finance. Then, the creative experts will host ‘mini-surgeries’ where you’ll have the chance to put your questions to them directly in small groups of your peers. The evening will finish with drinks, nibbles and networking.

Meet the experts:

Carolyn Dailey

Carolyn is the founder of Creative Entrepreneurs, which she started in 2016 to empower creative people to turn their ideas into successful businesses. Previously she spent 20 years in London with Time Warner, helping HBO, CNN, Warner Bros. and Time Inc. expand their reach in Europe.

Nicolas Roope

An icon in design for over 20 years, Nicolas Roope has been the founder of numerous creative companies that have proved hugely influential across tech and design including:

(1) Poke digital agency which continues to demonstrate how brands can use digital approaches to engage with audiences both on and off line, and which was acquired by Publicis in 2019.

(2) Hulger, a product design company known for its groundbreaking Plumen sculptural light bulb, widely acclaimed since its 2011 launch as the first designer energy saving light bulb, now part of the permanent design collection at MoMA, V&A and Cooper-Hewitt.

(3) The Lovie Awards, which celebrate the “best of the European internet”.

Shaun Beaney

Shaun is a part of the Corporate Finance Faculty at ICAEW, where his work focusses on promoting access to finance, growing businesses and venture capital. He devised and co-authored ‘Creative Industries – Routes to Finance’, the seminal financing guide for Creative Entrepreneurs.

Lloyd Gunton

Lloyd Gunton is a manager at Saffery Champness where he is a part of the Film and TV team. His work specialises in assisting clients in accessing HMRC’s creative sector tax reliefs and providing audit services across the creative sector, from large budget film production companies to owner managed start up creative companies.

Stephanie Melodia

Stephanie Melodia runs startup marketing agency, Bloom, delivering London’s freshest marketing to the city’s best startups in beauty, fashion and technology. Prior to setting up Bloom, Stephanie ran the UK marketing for Top 10 Global App Developer, Meitu, and, before this, spent the best part of a decade working agency side.
