Young Writer of the Year showcase

Ahead of the winner announcement of the The Sunday Times / Peters Fraser + Dunlop Young Writer of the Year Award 2016, we'll be joined by some of the talented young writers on shortlist for readings, drinks and discussion.
The event will feature readings and discussion from three of this year’s four shortlisted writers – Max Porter (Grief is the Thing with Feathers), Benjamin Wood (The Ecliptic) and Jessie Greengrass (An Account of the Decline of the Great Auk, According to One Who Saw It) – plus last year’s winner, Sarah Howe (Loop of Jade), and will be chaired by The Sunday Times literary editor, Andrew Holgate.
Join us from 18.30 for free beer provided by craft beer specialists BrewDog. Authors will be signing after the event.
About the speakers:
Sarah Howe is a British poet, academic and editor. Her first book, Loop of Jade (Chatto & Windus, 2015), won the T.S. Eliot Prize and The Sunday Times / PFD Young Writer of the Year Award, and was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre Poetry Prize and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection.
Jessie Greengrass was born in 1982. She studied philosophy in Cambridge and London, where she now lives with her partner and child. An Account of the Decline of the Great Auk, According to One Who Saw It won the Edge Hill Short Story Prize 2016.
Max Porter was born in 1981 and works in publishing. He lives in South London with his wife and children. Grief is the Thing with Feathers is his first book.
Benjamin Wood was born in 1981 and grew up in northwest England. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, Canada, which he attended with the support of a Commonwealth Scholarship.
In 2012, Benjamin's first novel THE BELLWETHER REVIVALS was published. It was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, the Commonwealth Book Prize and le Prix du Roman Fnac, and has gone on to become a bestseller.

The annual award recognises the best literary work of fiction, non-fiction or poetry by a British or Irish writer of 35 and under, with the award winner will be revealed on Thursday 8 December.
