Pinar Akiskalioglu – TAKK
What made you want to start your business, and how did you get the ball rolling?
I founded TAKK because the personal care industry is taking a toll on people’s minds, wallets, and—more importantly—our Earth. It’s an industry built on fake ‘innovation’ and empty promises. It looks glamorous but is actually the second biggest plastic polluter.
Somebody had to do something about it. As someone trained in the industry who had the opportunity to shift careers, I felt it should be me.
What drew you to Second Home, and what do you enjoy most about working here?
I loved Second Home the moment I stepped in. The natural light, the plants, the animals, and the lively people make me feel like an eco-citizen—which is something really important in what I do.
Being surrounded by people who care about our Earth, in a climate-positive space filled with amazing plants, gives me real energy
Looking ahead, what are you most excited to work on or explore in your business?
My team and I are on a mission to help people enjoy choosing what they truly want—without manipulation.
We’re also building carbon-neutral bathrooms in public spaces—insetting everything we can, and offsetting what we can’t through powerful carbon-positive initiatives.
