But the city’s fashion history stretches back centuries before the birth of the Mini – a timeline that links Edwardian music-Hall stars and Regency dandies, Huguenot weavers and Tudor peacocks.

Join us to explore how London’s fashion story has evolved across the centuries – and look ahead, to ask what its next chapter may be.

Amber Butchart is a fashion historian, lecturer, writer, and presenter of the BBC’s ‘A Stitch in Time’. Her latest book, ‘The Fashion Chronicles’, explores the lives of the most fashionable people in history, from Tutankhamen to Beyoncé.

Katie Baron is an author, brand strategist, and global Head of Retail at trend forecasting agency Stylus. She has written extensively on the intersections between fashion, technology, innovation and popular culture. Her books include ‘Stylists: New Fashion Visionaries.’

John-Michael O’Sullivan is an architect and journalist, who writes regularly about photography, fashion and design for publications like Esquire, The Observer and Article. He is currently at work on his first book, ‘The Replacement Girl’, about the early days of the modern fashion industry.

This event is part of Second Home's City Life Festival. Running throughout October, the festival will explore the relationship between urban spaces, communities and identities and champion London as a place of inclusivity and diversity.
