Music historian Bill Brewster and his guests recall the heyday of the record store, when vinyl was the only game in town and Soho was the central meeting place for scenesters of all stripes.

Bill will be joined by record store stalwarts:

Roy The Roach – owner of the infamous Quaff Records in Berwick Street, which was instrumental in servicing the rare groove scene.

Zaf Chowdry (aka The Mighty Zaf) – resident staff member in Reckless for two decades, granting him an encyclopedic knowledge of black music.

Karen Tate – mainstay of Sounds Of The Universe, now the longest remaining specialist store in Soho, which has been in business for 30 years and now has a record label offshoot, Soul Jazz.

This event is part of Second Home's City Life Festival. Running throughout October, the festival will explore the relationship between urban spaces, communities and identities and champion London as a place of inclusivity and diversity.
