Join Berkeley's esteemed Computer Science professor Edward Ashford Lee for a lively and provocative discussion on the creative partnership between humans and technology.
In his latest book, Plato and the Nerd, Lee argues that technology has advanced to the point where its progress seems limited not by physical constraints but by the human imagination, indeed he believes that our aim for artificial intelligence to reproduce human cognitive function vastly underestimates the potential of computers.
Lee also postulates that technology is co-evolving with humans - that while it augments our cognitive and physical capabilities we nurture, develop, and propagate technology itself.
Lee will briefly outline his ideas and open to the floor for discussion of this fascinating topic. Come over, have a beer and get your mind blown!
