The internet has collapsed the boundaries of time, space, and desire.

However far apart lovers are, they can instantly feel present. So can they ever really break up?

This is the question posed by award-winning author Joanna Walsh’s latest novel Break.Up, a collection of essays where we follow the narrator as she travels across Europe after the end of a love affair mostly conducted online.

From Rome to Budapest, Freud to Foucault, texts to DMs, this is a stimulating, original work which dismantles what we know of love, communication and connection.

Joanna will be in conversation with Stephanie Boland, Head of Digital at Prospect Magazine and co-founder of The Second Source, a group of women journalists working to end sexual harassment in the media.

Tickets are free for members and £3 for non-members.

All proceeds from our cultural programme go to the Kibera Hamlets School in Nairobi, where Second Home has funded the construction of a new school building designed by our architects Selgas Cano.
