Human rights activist and feminist Majeda Khoury had an unusual motivation to start her supper club. Majeda had suddenly become a refugee – forced to flee war-torn Syria and settle in London without her husband and two sons.

During this difficult journey, Majeda realised the power of her cooking. Not only could she bring people together, but also create a space where people can safely discuss ideas going far beyond delicious food and drink.

Majeda was actually imprisoned for helping to feed other refugees arriving in Damascus. Just one of many trials and tribulations women like her have faced since the revolution in 2011.

Second Home is proud to host Majeda for a special three-course supper club in collaboration with the charity Help Refugees. It’s a chance to enjoy lovingly cooked Syrian specialities and hear the stories of amazing women from the country.

All money raised will go towards Majeda’s ambitions to set up a catering company for women refugees.

This event is part of Second Home’s Redefining Femininity Series – celebrating the power, pain and pleasure of 21st-century womanhood through talks, discussions, workshops, food and music.

Second Home London Fields has landed and we're celebrating with a week of events, championing social change, creativity and entrepreneurship. Explore London Fields Unwrapped.
