Courttia Newland is an acclaimed author and playwright whose debut novel The Scholar: A West Side Story was praised by The Times for 'reflecting Britain from a distinctive and unsentimental perspective'.

To celebrate the 21st anniversary of it's release, we'll be hearing from Newland and a stellar line up of authors and poets – Irenosen Okojie (Butterfly Fish, Speak Gigantular), Alex Wheatle MBE (Straight Outta Crongton, Brixton Rock), Zena Edwards (Healing Pool and Mine 4 Life) and Stephen Thompson (Toy Soldiers, No More Heroes) – who will read from the work of this genius 'chronicler of inner city life'.
